Nose Spray really sucks. This is my new discovery. So do allergies and being sick. Post-nasal drip is not fun as well. And when I open the bottle of Nyquil I start shaking and gagging... taking it is like a form of torture. I have to plug my nose and then the tast fills my mouth... even typing about it is making me gag and make faces.... I really hate nyquil.... but I love that it often just knocks me out.... I need to get some nyquil capsules (altho technically the liquid is better for your throat, i don't care at this point)
Well enough about my disgusting sickness. Which leads to the point of doctors and their diagnoses. So every year I get a cold and am put on cold meds and such. It is right around November when it hits in. Last year, right before Thanksgiving, I got an ear infection and an ulcer on my throat. But anyways, the point here is that I am always diagnosed with a cold. But upon realization today that my problem is allergies, I have to wonder how long that has truly been the problem. I think that I could have had allergies every year, but they just kept treating me for colds, which does not really solve the problem. that sucks. oh and I heard the other day that doctors prescribe their own children less antibiotics than patients. It is partly because there is research that antibiotics are not good if taken too often, because your body will become immune. But also that other parents want a quick solution and often feel that antibiotics are the only way to go. This summer I was prescribed for the same staff infection anti-biotic three times, on the third time my mom did not let me get it, because she didn't want me to become immune, and because it is just not good for me. Which leads us to the problems in the structure of the pediatric system. Why do we put these doctors in power, but then when they tell us to get rest and drink water, demand a quick and "real" solution. So I wonder if they have to take a class on parent pleasing, because I am sure that is a huge component to their job.
Another structural problem I was reading about today is that of health care for the impoverished. See the poor people in third world countries are facing huge epidemics of disease. However they cannot get treatment because they cannot afford it. However, they cannot make money because they cannot get better to get a job. Through this process, the people in power are pushing down those who have no money and keeping them in this powerless state. It is only through the help of modern day heroes that the sick and poor get the treatment they need. I read about a doctor that has a clinic in Africa, I think, that he opened up. There he is helping victims of aids and malaria, as well as other disease victims. He has a system set up where they are given treatment, and then moeny is given to a caretaker (usually a friend) who will administer the drugs and make sure they are getting what they need. They are also given food to feed a family of five, so that there are not situations where the patient is eating a lot and the rest of the family is starving. I think this is such an awesome thing. i would love to go do this somewhere. Oh and the doctor treats the patients the same, if not better than, his patients back in the states. He now switches between the two areas.
Okay, I cannot write any more. But I just wanted to get out some thoughts... look at how I have become a soc major... "the problem is structural, put in place by our society" haha I love it!
Because apparently it is very hard. It is also hard to follow my speech. My hope is that this blog will give people a little bit of insight into how my mind works (very spatially). Enjoy! And comment if you visit, so I know who is leaving love!

at work again
Funny how I always have new posts between seven and eleven or so in the morning... odd that it coincides with my work hours. haha But yeah I am just sitting here, today should have been a busy day... but now I know how to do everything so it goes really fast. I already got the Bid ready, took a paper to Ontario (yes all the way to Ontario where my nemesis is, that story to follow), and made a new file... all before 8:30. So now I have nothing to do, because certified payroll just is not as fast as me... so it won't get done before the break. That does suck, but what can I do?
So back to Mr. Ontario. Last week I had to take the asphault test results to Ontario. I get there and hand them to this guy at his desk in the jobsite trailer, and I say "Here are the test results." He said, "the pregnancy or the asphault." I was shocked, but just laughed it off and said it was the asphault. But I got in the car and I was super pissed at him. Because he was laughing and the other guy in the office was just kinda like duh (in a stupid voice, he did not do anything). So I brought it up in my gender and sexuality class (way to get the feminists riled up haha jk) and my teacher said it was a classic case of sexism. That because he had the power in the situation he could make an inappropriate joke to make me feel uncomfortable. eh. I was not super upset about it anymore, but I did like getting the class of track for a few minutes. The discussion switched to something else and we used like 20 minutes of class time. Although half of it was from "topper" having to tell stories to beat mine. ugh. I do not like that she feels the need to top any story. Even if whatever she has to say is not relevant at all... do not even get me started on this girl.
I go home today! I am so excited. Super tired tho, so Vanja is going to have to keep me awake. And maybe some Red Bulls will help with that too. Oh I can leave work in 20 minutes!

ugh
I couldn't sleep last night. It was terrible. I got in bed at 10... but couldn't sleep because my lovely roommates were singing Christmas songs (plus I just couldn't sleep)... so I went in the living room and joined in, as I took my nyquil. (makes me shudder just thinking of the liquid discomfort) Then it was back to bed at 11, where I continued to lay awake, staring at the ceiling. Talking to God. Hearing Kell listen to Christmas songs and talk on the phone next door. But do not get me wrong, noise doesn't keep me up. At midnight I turned on the laptop to watch a dvd, but a few people imed me, because aim came on. So I had someone texting me til about 1 30, that was nice. Would have been nicer if I was sleeping. It was just such a horrid night for sleeping. I was just so fitful. What a fun day today will be. Oh to awake after not really sleeping, what a terrible feeling that is.
But I was up on time and had extra time to watch the news while I ate cereal. That was nice. It is rare that I watch the news, except I have started watching it in the morning. It is good to see what is going on in the world. PresidentBush tried to leave a press conference, but the door was locked, so was the other, so he had to go back kinda onto stage, and then exit through the backstage. I am not a huge bush hater, but it was kinda funny.

Harry Potter
... came out last night... amazing! haha Actually I thought it was a good movie overall.
If you read the book... then be prepared for a lot of missing things. They will probably not be noticed if you have read it more than a month ago, but seeing as i just re-read it, I picked up on many things. For instance, there were no house-elves, but that was widely known previously. Also, Fred and George did not have their whole wand and candy business, they had a few shots of them selling things, but nothing like the book desribes. Also, no time at the Dursley's, so no ton-toungue candy for Dudley. Oh, and the Quidditch scene was very very short, seeing as it was the world cup and had huge importance in the book. That was quite sad, the crowd wasn't too happy when it ended abruptly.
But if you did not read the book and are just in it for the movies... then it is a great catch. Everything is developing in this book, the dark side, romance (Harry and Cho, Vicktor Krum and Hermione), and more. It is darker than the first three, and Harry and Ron seem to be going through adolescene, which will be of greater importance in the fifth movie.
Even to I, the faithful book reader and movie watcher, I really liked this movie. I understand that they needed to cut some things out, and while I did miss some of the regular things of Hogwarts (there is almost no actual time in class), I did enjoy the movie.
Go see it.... review of Pride and Prejudice to be seen later, as I plan on seeing that this weekend

grumpy morning
My neck hurts. Probably from sleeping on it the wrong way. And I was late to work this morning. After I coughed up a lung at my apartment. But Vanja was awake with photo stuff spred all over the kitchen, meaning she probably did not sleep. So at least I got some sleep (6-7 hours?) And I am convinced my day can only get better... I mean I am going to take a nap! And Harry Potter is tomorrow! oh man!
On a positive note, I have made 10 hats for Uganda.... once sold, that is 150 dollars to go straight to the kids. It is so exciting! The hats are super cute too... I want like a million, but I cannot afford anymore, so I will stick with the one that I made. Oh, and I am going to host a hat party with TonFace at his house on next Wednesday. So if anyone is in the area and wants to do it, let me know. It will be a lot of fun!
Oh and if you didn't get the memo, I switched the photo a day thing to my myspace. But then I got too busy and couldn't even do it there. So no more photo a day. But maybe I will just post on here more now. Then delete the whole thing when I go abroad, so I can turn it into a Salzburg journal... and whoever shouldn't read this, won't be able to! haha
