Because apparently it is very hard. It is also hard to follow my speech. My hope is that this blog will give people a little bit of insight into how my mind works (very spatially). Enjoy! And comment if you visit, so I know who is leaving love!

In Chicago

you need to check under your car for people. Why? I will soon tell you. But this shocked me, as a San Fran girl, I was taught to look in the backseat and the bed of my truck for people. How someone would get into my car without my knowledge (I guess if I left it unlocked?), I do not know. But still, we were always supposed to check the backseat. And I usually did, especially on a dark night, in an unfamiliar place. Even at familiar places (um Em, I have checked the bed of my truck/the backseat of the focus when I left your house), because sometimes I get creeped out.

But why under your car? Because in Chicago someone will lie under your car and then slit your ankle (the achilles is killer) and then run off with your car and your money. My boss taught me this at our staff dinner at Outback. It is totally crazy, but I find myself peering under my truck from time to time. (not like bending down and looking under, cuz that makes me vulnerable, and the person underneath could just shoot me in the face). haha

Oh and I saw an episode of something on tv where this guy hit a woman over the head with a handle of rum. It was crazy. Never do that

tales from the office

I walked into the office on Wednesday to a somewhat surprising feeling in the air. I normally walk in and go straight to the back, as my boss believes that chatting with people distracts them from their work. I am quite content with sitting at my desk/semi-cubicle and doing work or reading or crocheting, so this theory is quite alright with me. But Wednesday was different. I stopped to talk to the receptionist for a few more minutes that normal (usually it is about 2.5 seconds of hellos). Then I looked across the long row of cubicles and saw a bright green ball going up and down. Someone was throwing a ball in their cubicle, I am guessing for creative inspiration. But it was just funny seeing a green ball going up and down over the cubicle, and nothing else.

On another note. I heard this song today and thought the lyrics were funny. Then I realized it is a D.C. Talk song that I used to love. When I first heard it, when I was in like 7th grade, I thought it described my junior high school.. colored people... because we were so racially diverse. But yeah, the lyrics are kinda funny as it starts...
"I couldn't help but notice that your epidermis is showing... what a wonderful shade of melatonin you have..."

The hormone hCG is released in urine when women are pregnant

too bad I did not know that for my human sexuality midterm last week. But now I do. And that is what home pregnancy tests are measuring. They are about 25% incorrect, usually a false negative. And did you know, there are now home ovulation tests.. used to determine when a woman is ovulating and when the woman has a better chance of getting pregnant. These tests measure the amount of LH (Lutin hormone) in the urine. You can also tell when a woman ovulates because her temperature spikes by about 1 degree from normal... these things will all be helpful later in my life. but for now, I will stick to trying to avoid kissing as best as I can. Oh and I watched a video of a woman giving birth today. Seemed more graphic than what we saw in High school (the miracle of life??), but maybe I just forgot. but as disturbing as it was, it was amazing too. To think that one day I will be able to have a little life in my body. We are amazing creations. Fearfully and wonderfully made.

Moving from sex... I learned a lot about catholicism in class yesterday. Sociology of Religion class, not sex class. There were six major topics in post-Vatican two discussion. Most revolving around sex, actually. Pre-marital sex, birth control, homosexuality, divorce, abortion, and one other thing that I have completely forgotten. There were two Catholic girls that discussed how they related to the issues and what they were taught when they were younger. They said they learned that "Catholics are Christian, but Christians are not Catholic." It made me feel a little close minded. Like we Christians are like, no, you aren't one of us. But at the same time they said that they did worship Mary, which would be considered another god, kinda. And you are not supposed to have idols. But it was interesting to hear there stories. And also to learn about the origin of a lot of catholic beliefs. Like being homosexual is not wrong, but the act of homosexual sex is wrong. because homosexual sex is not procreative. so you can be gay and living with your partner, but not having sex. weird. also that any sex without the intention of childbearing is wrong. but what about song of solomon? where it talks about how wonderful sex is and it's a gift from God for marriage. they also said they had not learned why you shouldn't have pre-marital sex... they just were taught not to. and most of their friends are not practicing catholicism anymore, and are out having sex and being on birth control and such. i found it interesting, that my friends, for the most part, who were not in religious school, still have the same beliefs. Most of us are still waiting for marriage for sex, however we were taught that birth control is okay in a marriage, actually i dont' think we ever talked about it. just that marriage is a gift of God to be enjoyed by a married couple. but i was asking them (there were 3 people presenting) about how they related to the book on catholicism that they were reporting on. and just trying to figure out a lot. But i talked to my professor today and he thanked me for my contribution to the class, and that another student had said they liked that i was wrestling with the issues and asking the presenters personal questions about how they related to the issues. so it felt really good to know that another student appreciated what i was saying and didn't think i was just trying to impress people or something. I like how this ended up being about sex too, oh well.

Matthew is coming home with me for Thanksgiving. I am excited. So is my grandma. hehe

3 midterms down

one to go... and I got into the habit of calling them finals... I cannot decide if it is because they stressed me out as much as finals. Or if it was a Freudian slip, dreaming that it was the end of the semester instead of the middle.

I cannot believe I am almost done with college. Today I registered for my last classes as an undergraduate! Crazy! And sadly I missed the signups for History of Wine... well there is always a waitlist!

Anyone have any good ideas for a birthday present for Matthew? I need to get him something amazing, but I just do not know what...

I hate midterms

They make me go crazy and suffer emotional breakdowns... you don't want to be around me when finals come in December.... ugh! I also hate being a girl, because that makes me more likely to have emotional breakdowns where I just cry in my boyfriends arms.

I am just such a happy person today. haha I wish I could put this into better words. But I cannot think of anything. Oh well, back to diagnosing people with Multiple personality disorder and sexual sadism. haha

back at the job

So I got Matt to go with me to the Falconer (a pub in Redlands) last weekend, for my little Salzy reunion. He was reluctant to go, but then had fun. I was being the social butterfly that I am, bouncing back and forth between my table with Matt, Kev, and Linds, & the Salzburg group. Seeing Wendy was awesome. She also came to the game on Saturday night to watch me cheer, because, let us be real, who goes to the Redlands games to watch football? haha But I definitely fell off of my box during one of the cheers, go figure. It was really funny. I just looked up at her and Caitlin and Pat and started laughing. Then I got back on the box and did a hurkey off of it at the end of the chant. Matt did not notice because he was talking to Brenna and Chris. Oh well. He could have had something to make fun of me for awhile, but he missed it! haha We have a game on Saturday, my goal is to stay on the box. My goal for the team is that they have no more injuries (they had 2 pretty bad ones last week... one of the guys dislocated his shoulder, the other tore his MCL and ACL... ouch!)

I took this picture at the Falconer and for some reason I really love it. I don't know why. It is just spamazing (That's a new word in Spaaanglish, Lindsey and my's new language... and it has nothing to do with spanish...)

Oh and you should leave comments, because I feel like no one reads this. haha

back at Matich

and back to having time to write blogs... what a coincidence! I actually am doing a lot of work now, but every now and then there is a lull... and I don't have a tv to distract me.

So I think I am crazy. I decided about a month or so ago that I would wait until I was engaged to kiss anyone. That way any relationship is focused on God and other things, not a physical relationship. However this is way easier in theory. Now that I am actually dating Matt (who came to the same conclusions separate from me) it is much much harder. I told one of my friends yesterday that we had not kissed, she goes, "What? That's crazy. You aren't even dating if you haven't kissed!" haha Well three weeks of exclusivity says differently. I know I am crazy, but it is about being set apart. That is what we are called to do as Christians, and this is one way I have chosen to do so. Not falling to the worldly pattern of physical relationships where you once said you would wait til marriage for sex and now it just seems like you might as well do it. I mean, I am glad I made the decision, but it is harder than I ever imagined.

Any thoughts?

arizona, kisses, and more

Arizona was amazing. It is so wonderful seeing how God works in my life each year. And seeing how much the Clarks (the family we see there) have grown. Lenny is almost an adult now! It is crazy. This was my 5th year with them. I also managed the task of cooking for 100 people for 10 days. And did not get stressed! amazing, I know.

so I realized that I have not kissed anyone in a little under 2 months. That is sad. I miss little kisses! Oh well, it is going to be a long while until I find anyone worthy of my kisses.

I cannot really think of much else to write. I am packing up for the move back to redlands. It is kind of sad. Because I am realizing this might be the last. How crazy is that? I will leave you with that...

4th and boys

The Fourth of July is a greatly loved holiday at my house. My dad has always loved setting off fireworks and eating ice cream with friends and family. Homemade ice cream, that is. This year, for the first time, we used a hand crank machine instead of our electric (someone broke it...) I had the best job with the hand crank machine, I had to sit on it so it wouldn't move around while everyone else was cranking. haha Then we lit off some fun fireworks in the backyard followed by spinning things and smoke bombs in front of the house in the street. The kids (me, em, matt, davis, & rob) went down to the street by george's house where they lit off some roman candles. George came out "What are you doing? You better not set anything on fire. I'm calling the cops if you don't go away. I am calling them right now. Hurry." So then we walked away, then past my house because he was watching, then back to my house and inside. He called my house a few minutes later, warning us that there were people out front setting off fireworks. haha

So they say, boys will be boys. Well, I do not know how true that is. One of the boys, A, got his bike switched around and boy B fell over and bumped his forehead. Then C yelled at A for hurting B, and A then hit C in the face. A comes into the house screaming and crying and locks us outside. Finally B gets inside and talks to A. He says "A, it was not your fault, C just needed someone to blame for me getting hurt. You did not do anything wrong, it was just an accident." It was so cute. B is the oldest at 11 and A is the youngest at 5, he was totally taking care of his friend (they are not brothers).

Fair

Tonight was Fair night with the family. My dad has started taking the girls (Alex and Jessica) to the fair every year. My bro and I go along for the fun times. We had a wonderful time walking around and enjoying the sights that Alameda County has to offer - hosted at the wonderful Pleasanton fairgrounds. As I talked to Alex tonight, I learned some scary things about Junior high. She and her friends are dealing with high school drama (girl one dated guy 1 who then cheated on her with girl 2 so girl 1 dumped him.) It is ridiculous. That should not be happening in Junior high -- 6th grade! gracious! And then she started telling me about her family life class (which most of us knew as sex ed) and how it is co-ed and next year they are learning about birth control. How did she grow up so fast? And why are girls this young having sex and needing to learn about protection? Ugh. Kids should not grow up so fast!

Anyways, here are some pictures from tonight:

Thug livin - Davis and Me

Yeah, we are related... haha

Jessica sure looks happy

This is the Lauren Wallace picture

a few pictures

I thought I would post a few pictures from the past few weeks (or week and a half). There are some pretty funny ones.

Wearing my beckham shirt for the world cup... even tho I don't even know what team he is on anymore...

Beckham is on my backside

I love Ice Cream!

Crossing our fingers at Woodies on the Wharf, win the surfboard!

I love the racoon eyes...stupid H&M glasses.

The lovely bride to be and her cake

Gotta love the rollers in my hair!

Crazy curls after my perm!

And that is the randomness that is the beginning of my summer... and I have not even put up the pictures of Emily in the pink dress, or of Dad at the Uke concert.

I give her a 6

Said the one of the three preteen boys sitting outside of the library as I walked by. A 6? Excuse me?? A 6?? That better be out of 5. Now I was not supposed to hear them rating the sweet ladies as they walked in, but they are not that quiet and i distinctly heard the 6 as I walked by. And they still had not seen my best assets yeah... or at least not how great it looks when I walk. haha Not that I think I have a fine booty (cuz it's pretty small to be considered a booty), but I do know that I look good when I walk, I just have a little sexy walk that I do, and I cannot help it: it is habit. Anyways, I had half a mind to walk back to those boys and demand they re-rate me at a 9, at least. But I continued on my way into the library.

The library's collection of used books for sale is way underrated. I got 6 great, paperback books for $5.75. These are perfect books for throwing in my bag upon leaving for the pool. A lot less bulky than the Janet Evanovich hardcover that has 3 books inside, talk about a beast.

I ate a hot dog today. Very weird for me. And even weirder, I kinda liked it. Enough said

i hate spiders

Especially when they jump on me

Okay so that did not really happened, I probably would have peed in my pants if it did. But I will continue with the real story now. [story is a little racy, so be prepared] So I was about to take a bath when I saw a spider running across the ceiling. It was brown and had a big body and would run and then shake it's butt (I think he was putting a web down or something). So I throw my clothes on as fast as I can [the racy part is over now], watching the spider to make sure he does not get above me and to make sure it doesn't run out or into a crack. So I run out and get my dad who doesn't want to stop watching the Dodgers game (15th inning, I know, but there is a pause button on the freakin tivo). So while I am waiting for the third out I run to the bathroom to spray the spider with something and stun it. The problem with Lysol -- it is a mist. Hairspray is a stream, should have used that. The spider fell down and I thought he was jumping on me. I let out one of those girly screams that is really high pitched... which is rare because I never do that. Then I realize the spider fell with his web, so he just fell like a foot, and he was probly 5 feet away from me. But still scary. Anyways, my dad came in and killed it. But I went down the three stairs into the tv room and asked my mom if she heard. She said the whole street did. Funny

Stupid spider. so much drama

Ukulele Club

My dad plays uke in a class in Berkley. They performed with their teacher, Bobo, in Santa Cruz tonight at the Ukulele Club. It was so much fun. It was an "Everly Brothers" night and 4 out of 6 songs were sad sad love songs. This one rang so true.

"Bye bye love, Bye bye happiness, Hello loneliness
I think I'm a gonna cry
Bye bye love, Bye bye sweet caress, Hello emptiness
I feel like I could die, Bye bye my love bye bye"
~The Everly Brothers, Bye Bye Love

Well it doens't completely ring true. But it is a good song and I can relate to parts of it. Sad days. This next song (not played at the club, but played on the Carrie Underwood cd heard while I was nannying today) also relates to the next step in my life. This is where I want to be going,

"Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
'Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
Give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel"
~Carrie Underwood, Jesus Take the Wheel

heels

Walking around the plan scanning room today, I kept hearing the clickety clack of my shoes. They were the cutest heels ever, little kitten heels, black and white checkers/plaid/gingham ish material, only an inch heel, rounded toes with a cute little tie on the side. Adorable. And I realised just how much I love the sound of heels. It makes me feel all grown up and professional. Not that I want to be in an office, I hate offices. but maybe in a tango club, walking around before I go on stage. Or at a fancy bar, eyeing the room for men to buy me drinks. I doubt i will ever do either of those, but it is a funny thought.

And I just love how heels looks. Some are just incredibly cute (like mine today) and some just murmur va-va-voom, like the black heels I got in London. So sexy!

So now you have something to think about when you hear that familiar click - clack - clickety clack of heels.

chew on that for a minute

Mini Golf

Has always been the bane of my existence. I am really bad at it. sometimes. Especially if I am angry (good job, Jordan, get me all irritated before I play.... haha) But yeah I took a breather and re-focused to play better. I came back and kicked his butt in the second game, after losing a rough 59 to 56 in game one. Jordan had a rough second half of the second game, while I stayed around par. Final score of game two: Megan 56, Jordan 62. haha I kicked major butt. And I learned to control my temper and stay calm, no matter if I had 2 strokes or 10. haha

Who wants to hit up Golden Tee next week? I think I have discount coupons...

Ps the Ville is ghetto. Kids were running all over the golf course. We got to one of the castles and two kids were sitting on top of it and two on the lawn next to it. Weird.

sick

So last night I got sicky and Jordan took care of me. So sweet. I had a headache and my stomach was all upset. I just wanted to curl up in a ball. Jordan sat with me while I laid in my bed (mattress on the floor) and tried to fall asleep. Pushing my hair off my face and comforting me. Weird, that is something I always wanted a boyfriend to do. And he just fell right into it. Like the second I felt sick he was all about trying to make me feel better. And I know that is how I am when he is sick. Guess that is just one of those things that relationships is about.

But what about when you have something contagious? Wouldn't you rather the other person stay away so that they do not get sick? I feel like I would. haha Just something to think about... if you have a contagious cold, would you rather your significant other sit by your side and brush your hair off you face and hold a cold compress on your forehead, or stay away from you for the most part so that they are ready to hang out when you are better? (sorry, big question)

update

I did it. I stayed up until 5 am last night. But we had Lord of the Rings on, can you blame me?? haha

However, about the sleeping in part. I woke up at 11 30. Late for me, early for the Skarbek clan. I read my Bible for a few minutes and then forced myself to go back to sleep. I woke up again at 2 30 pm. Nice work Koenig! haha

life in the Ville....

Victorville, that is

so I am quite entertained here..... it is a Tuesday night. Jordan and I are sitting in the family room with our laptops, as it Kory (the bro), and their Mom.... the sister, Kelsie is on the computer in the computer room.... where else would you find an entire family on computers at 3 am? haha I love it. I am slowly adapting to Skarbek life. Go to sleep at 4 am and wake up at 2 pm.... I am not so good at staying up til 4, I can only last til 2 30 or so, altho it is 2 40 already, and I'm not that tired. But there is no way I can sleep in until 2 pm. That is Jordan's thing. haha

And I am turning into a gamer, as Jordan said, I have potential. He saw how addicted I was to my Cake Mania game. But how could I not be? It is the best game ever, and it is about baking cakes and decorating! haha

More to come about Victorville.... and then who knows where I will go before hitting up Redlands on Sunday

the end

Salzburg is over

As is the Salzburg blog

Now I am just trying to readjust to the States, and all that junk. I really do miss Salzburg, but it is good to be home.

I would write more, but I have a bookstore to go to, papers to write, and a blanket to crochet.

And Em I am so excited for you to graduate... can't wait to watch you walk!!
